Snow Treasure by Marie McSwigan

Snow TreasureHave you read Snow Treasure, by Marie McSwigan? If you haven’t, you won’t know how a group of Norwegian kids could outsmart the Nazis, who were occupying their village. Would you believe that these kids made trip after trip, gradually moving nine million dollars worth of gold bullion on their sleds to an area twelve miles away? The gold was hidden until it could be taken on a ship to America, so that the Nazi’s could not get it and use it to buy more weapons.

This story supposedly happened in 1940 and the book was written by a journalist in 1942 – while the war was still going on. Maybe it is based on a real situation, maybe not, but whether you believe it or not – it is an exciting adventure in historical fiction.
